FundraisingSouth Walton Montessori Academy is a non-profit educational institution that is fully funded by tuition fees. Two types of fundraising programs help support SWMA in unique, non-operational ways. Families and staff work diligently to plan and conduct fundraising programs throughout the school year. These programs help provide the best possible educational environment, programs and experiences for our children: - Capital campaign (building fund)
- School program support (special projects, materials, student scholarships, student and staff enrichment programs, etc.)
The school asks every family to participate in fundraising events through their contribution of time and resources supporting fundraising events held throughout the year, and through financial support. The SWMA Parent Organization usually organizes committees and parent volunteers to conduct fundraising events, while teachers coordinate other school-wide fundraisers. - Capital Campaign
SWMA Board of Trustees oversees a Capital Cabinet comprised of parents working hard to invest in the school’s future. The current capital campaign is working to fund a new learning facility. Contact SWMA about gifts to the campaign or volunteering to assist the campaign - more info below. - Torre Rosa
A live and silent auction, dinner and dancing under the stars held annually in the Spring. Torre Rosa, SWMA’s largest fundraiser, is already an established event carried out by very dedicated committees of parents, generates widespread support among families and the community. - The Jim DelMauro 5K Rosemary Run
Benefiting the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and South Walton Montessori Academy (Fall event). - Tunes for the Dunes
A local benefit concert held at Rosemary Beach. This year, the Parent Organization (parents, staff and students) sold beverages during the concert. Proceeds from drink sales were donated by SWMA to Red Cross for Hurricane Disaster Relief. - Land’s End
School uniforms with logos ordered through Land’s End generate 3% of all sales for SWMA (www.landsend.com/school ). - Scholastic Book Club
Each month Scholastic offers carefully selected books and learning materials at very good prices for families. Through the Scholastic Literacy Partners Program, SWMA receives bonus points from these orders to earn free books and materials for classrooms. - Michael Olaf Montessori Company
Michael Olaf catalogues (The Joyful Child, Child of the World) offer Montessori books and materials designed for classroom and home use. Materials purchased from the catalogues prior to November 23, 2005 will result in 10% of total sales credited to SWMA to use for new school materials. The catalogues provide information on Montessori philosophy and education, child development, and a range of products for each age group. Visit www.michaelolaf.com. - Box Tops for Education
Clip box tops, shop online at Box Tops Marketplace, and/or Use a Box Tops Visa card to earn cash for SWMA. Visit www.boxtops4education.com to earn cash for our school!
Other ways to support SWMA Families participate in many other activities that contribute to the success of our classrooms and programs. Some families contribute items or cash donations for specific programs as needed to enhance the school or classroom environment (such as potted plants or items from a teacher’s wish list). Some parents give the gift of time and talents to help accomplish needed school projects. Such gifts provide the school with resources that are otherwise unavailable, and are greatly appreciated by the entire school community. All gifts should be discussed with your teacher or the Head of School to make sure priorities are being met appropriately. “An interesting piece of work, freely chosen, which has the virtue of inducing concentration rather than fatigue, adds to the child's energies and mental capacities, and leads him to self-mastery”. Maria Montessori |
